Vietnam - Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh

Earth Day 2024 campaign took place successfully on 29 March with the participation of more than 28 employees of Carl Zeiss VN Company and around 100 volunteers of Xanh Viet Nam community. We organized cleanup events in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh to help remove litter and waste from streets and other public spaces. Through this activity, we further enhanced ZEISS' commitment to sustainability as we engaged employees to create a positive change in the environment. Thanks to the enthusiasm and support of all participants, we collected a total of 225 garbage bags. This was an excellent opportunity for our employees to contribute to a meaningful and impactful event and increase everyone's responsibility towards the environment"

Singapore

Over 30 employees from ZEISS Singapore took some time to contribute back to protecting our environment. We visited Coney Island on Friday, 22 March 2024 to do a beach clean-up. Though we were faced with high tide, we managed to complete the beach clean-up successfully. We collected 120.1kg of trash.

Through this activity, we became more conscious about the environment and it was a good stepping stone for all of us to take proactive steps to make sure that rubbish goes into the bin regardless of how small they are. It was also a good opportunity to mingle with colleagues we never worked with before. All in all, it was an enriching experience for all the participants and we’re looking forward to the next.

Thailand

This year, ZEISS Thailand held a fun upcycling workshop in the office, transforming a pre-loved t-shirt into a reusable tote bag, as we wanted to raise awareness about the impact of plastic trash and propose a sustainable alternative to limit its use.

Embracing sustainable practices daily is essential, not only on Earth Day. Making small changes like reducing plastic usage, conserving energy, and supporting eco-friendly businesses can have a significant impact on our planet's health. Let's make every day Earth Day by being mindful of our ecological footprint and working towards a greener future.

Philippines

Over 20 employees of ZEISS Philippines took their time to join the coastal clean-up in one of the protected wetlands in the country. We visited Las Piñas - Parañaque Wetland Park on 1 April to do a coastal clean-up. Aside from the coastal clean-up, we were given a "walk education" through the wetland introducing different tree species that can only be seen in the Philippines. We also had a chance to see different species of migratory birds as they visited the wetland as their mating ground.

May this Earth Day inspire us to appreciate and take action to preserve the beauty of our planet.

The aim was to bring an element of nature into the office space and how to care for it. Through the workshop we learnt that terrariums have a self-contained ecosystem that thrives on minimal care with the right amount of soil, moisture and sunlight. Over 70 employees had the hands-on experience in creating their own succulent terrariums. Everyone was eager to showcase their work of art by adding a personal touch of creativity to their terrariums. At the end of the activity, the terrariums were displayed in the common areas of the office and on the work desks. We also had a Earth Day awareness corner where we displayed some infographics on Plastic vs Planet and a QR code for employees to participate in a fun quiz on proper waste management.

HAPPY EARTH DAY EVERYONE! Let's make every day Earth Day and together we can make a meaningful impact and create a more sustainable world!
